Overview of Founder, Alan H. Collier
During his 25 year law firm career, Alan was a litigation partner in an international law firm (20 years at Mendes & Mount in the Aviation Department in Los Angeles and 5 years in the start-up firm of Fitzpatrick & Hunt, Tucker, Collier, Pagano, Aubert) handling high risk litigation specializing in Aviation and Products Liability all over the world primarily for the London aviation insurance market. Along with defending aviation companies following accidents, he has spent his career counseling, training and auditing numerous organizations (in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Asia) in the areas of risk/litigation prevention and management as well as product integrity in order to effectively handle and avoid risk.
Alan received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Government from Abilene Christian University, summa cum laude in 1987, where he was a University Scholar. He continued his education at Pepperdine University School of Law on a full Dean's scholarship graduating with a Juris Doctor, cum laude in 1990 and was a member of the Dean's Honor List for all 3 years. He is a speaker and writer in the areas of aviation law and risk mitigation, including being a “Featured Legal Author” for the Commercial UAV News as well as a member of AUVSI.
He is AV rated Preeminent by Martindale Hubbell for both Peer and Judicial Review Editions and admitted in all state and federal district courts in California, the U.S. Court of Appeal for the 9th Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is honored to be designated as an Aviation Law Expert in Who's Who Legal. Alan is Panel Attorney for the Aircraft Owners and Pilot’s Association (AOPA) assisting owners and pilots with legal issues arising our of aircraft accidents/incidents with the NTSB, FAA, claims or litigation, and an Adjunct Professor of Law in Aviation Law at Pepperdine University School of Law.
While continuing his legal/consulting/writing work in aviation law and risk, Alan is also currently serving as the Director for West Africa for Pepperdine School of Law’s Sudreau Global Justice Institute in Accra, Ghana.
